Kayaking The Sunshine Coast – Thormanby Island

1

Kayaking is not something that I have done a lot of lately but once upon a time I worked for a Kayak rental outfit on the sunshine coast and would occasional go practice an Eskimo roll. Those times are quite a few years in the past but this past weekend it was a ton of fun to do a small camping excursion via kayak to Thormanby Island adjacent to the Sunshine Coast. Here are a few photos from our brief Buccaneer Bay home.

Camping at Harrison Lake’s Bear Creek – Sasquatch Sightings May Occur!

0

This set of photos is from camping on Harrison Lake. The Bear Creek Forestry Campsite is a great location to camp just outside of Vancouver. Camping right on the lake there are around 40 sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you want a great camp site about 2.5hrs from downtown Vancouver then this is a great option.

Bobbing around on Cowichan Lake

0

Vancouver Island is one place that seems really far away but really isn’t such a bad trek for the reward. Heading up through Nanaimo then over to Cowichan Lake there are several forestry campsites that are available right on the water. This particular site was called Maple Grove where there are some 60 sites available. For a mere $17 per night you have a lakefront resort at your fingertips. I would definitely recommend this as a BC camping destination.

Twin-Creek Camping Outside Pemberton

0

Went on a camping trip this past weekend to the Twin creek Forestry campground outside Pemberton BC. Gorgeous spot on the lake for swimming, lounging and having a few beers. Great area for car-camping! There are actually four different camping areas in the area along the forest service road. If you are looking for somewhere to camp that is out of the city but easy to access this is a great option.

There is a set of “hot-springs” down the FSR about 45km. We went to go find them and was it ever a dissapointment. Besides the two flat tires, once we arrived there was a $7.50 fee per person for what turned out to be a naked-old-man tub-style bathing area. The pemberton camping is awesome, do not bother with the hot-springs

Here are a few more shots of the lake. Great weekend camping area!

Impromptu Camping Trip Action

1

Went on a last minute camping trip this past weekend. We drove up the Fraser Canyon from Hope and found a spot next to the river to camp for the night. Nothing fancy just a plot of land and the water rushing behind. Following that, we continued North through Lillooet and Back to Vancouver passing Whistler along the way. Short and sweet but a nice way to get away from the city on a sunny long weekend.
