A hike before a wait….

For the past seven months my Canon 7D has had the annoying battery-communication error message that seems all too popular these days. With a reasonable time ahead with no photo obligations on the horizon it is finally time to send the camera off for repair. With that in mind, there will be no photos for the duration of of the repair.

If anyone has had this issue on their 7D it is apparently an issue with the battery connection. The camera is unable to communicate properly and as a result can not read the status of the battery charge. Additionally the battery discharges when connected at an increased rate as compared to standard timing. The camera does actually work as it should but is simply a PITA along the way.

Here are a couple photos from North Vancouver’s Deep Cove Quarry Rock hike to tide wait.

Until next time.

The Moon Shines Brightly

Here is another photo of the moon. The shot used a Canon 7D, Canon 300mm F4L USM and Canon 2x Extender II. There is a fairly significant crop on the photo as well. I tried taking some photos of the moon a month or so back with limited success. This shot came out a lot sharper. With the lens combo involved it is an equivalent of around 1000mm. Crazy to think that I still had to crop it a fair bit. Either way pretty stoked on how this one came out.

A little bit of fun with dinner. Pulled Pork Style

It takes a lot of time to cook pulled pork. Not a lot of effort, just time sitting and bubbling away in the slow cooker. With that in mind I wanted to play around a little more with the video functionality of the Canon 7D. Also, the export settings in Adobe Premiere were a bit of a mystery for a while. I think I figured it out though. This came out much crisper that edits in the past and was also a reasonable file size.

Mmmmnnn Pulled pork.
