A New Old Trail Re-Explored

2

North Vancouver’s Fromme Mountain is one of the best known riding spots in the world. It is in the epicentre of where freeride mountain biking first emerged. Trails like Pink Starfish, Flying Circus, Oil Can and of course Ladies Only have such more meaning than their seemingly random names. One trail though that has been much forgotten about is Lower Ladies Only. While it shares a name with it’s upper counterpart the lower trail sees much less use. This is also one of the most ‘classic’ trails on the shore as it is very much the same as it was back in 1995 when it was built. That said, it is currently being updated so will soon be to the current standards of the mountain.

There is something about the classic nature of the trail though and the heritage that it holds. I hadn’t ridden this trail for nearly a decade before today but taking a walk (or ride) down memory lane was a great way to remember the roots of freeride.

The Ride To Conquer Cancer – Vancouver To Seattle

1

The BC Ride To Conquer Cancer is a 2 Day, 220km ride from Vancouver BC to Seattle Washington. For 2011, more than 2800 riders raised in excess of $11.1 Million. WOW!

With work, I took on the challenge of keeping all of these bikes in working order for the duration. Offering free tech support to the onslaught of cyclists I do not want to see another flat tire for some time. With countless flats, bent wheels, mis-aligned derailleurs, missing pedal cleats, etc. etc. etc. I am happy it is over but I had a lot of fun at the event.

Next weekend I am doing the same thing all over again in Calgary. I will update on that one in a week or so.

Taking some stills while being filmed

Been working a lot lately with Alex Lavigne of Alias Cinema on some shorty riding videos. It has been a ton of fun and we have seen some great riding through it. Tough to get stills when being filmed but here are a few shots from the last couple of shoots.

Moab Utah – Red Rock Rumble

0

So, I was recently able to make a trek to Moab Utah (for the second time) and what an area it is. From incredible vistas, amazing rock formations and a sporting environment out of this world if you have never been I would suggest adding it to the list. Here are a few photos from the trip.

Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival

1

Whistler’s Kokanee Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival is the largest cycling event in North America. Spanning over the course of 9 Days there are more than a dozen different races and competitions wowing the crowds. I had the privilege of spending 7 days in Whistler this year during the festival and took a few photos over the course of the week.  The event is huge and is definitely worth watching. Next year, if you have a few days to spare head on up to Whistler and take in some of the action.
