The BC Ride To Conquer Cancer – Another Year, Another Amazing Event!

0

Another year, another series of Ride To Conquer Cancer Events. Traveling with Norco bicycles I was lucky enough to be helping out at the recent BC Ride to Conquer Cancer that took some 2800 riders from Vancouver to Seattle. With favorable weather comes less bike issues so this was the smoothest BC ride yet. By no means were we bored or looking for things to do but the waves of bikes came at a slower pace this year as riders experienced less mechanical issues with their bikes. These are amazing events and if you are considering participating, you should the riders in the BC ride alone have raised more than $50 Million Dollars going to the BC Cancer Foundation.

Thank you To everyone that participated in the event. Next up is Montreal on August 10-11th. See you there!

The Sun is Hiding out in Quebec! The Montreal Ride To Conquer Cancer

4

The Montreal Ride To Conquer Cancer is now complete. As the fourth and final event for Canada this was also the 8th RTCC that I have offered tech support at. After 8 tours, this is also the first event that was 100% rain free. With 30+ degree temperatures and clear skies the riders had different problems than usual. Keeping hydrated and cool was crucial in making it across the finish line. The riders were strong and all 2000 of them came together to raise $7 Million for the Montreal Jewish Hospital.

Lucky Number 7 – An Albertan Ride To Conquer Cancer

0

On the Ride to Conquer Cancer wrench support tally this was number 7. The Alberta Ride to Conquer Cancer had an extra variable this year and it was weather. While the ride started and ended in relative dryness, the creamy center was as wet as it could possibly be. With camp floor unable to handle the foot-traffic and extreme precipitation the camp was slightly refugee-camp like. That said, the cause, the drive and the thought of loved ones drove people forward. If nothing else, the camp conditions were a good excuse to get an early start to day 2. There were a few more casualties along the way and the buses were slightly more full than usual but the majority of riders still pedaled on and ended their ride on two wheels.

The ride is not supposed to be easy and by no means is it. This year the struggle was a little harder but all the more worthwhile. These 2000 riders that collectively raised $8 Million towards the Alberta Cancer Foundation. This event and all its participants truly are making a difference in finding a cure for cancer.

Alberta Bound – The Ride To Conquer Cancer

0

Over the past few days I have been hanging out in the land of Beef, Stampedes, cheap gas and no tax. That is right, Alberta. Heading out of Calgary was the Ride To conquer cancer where much like BC I was with Norco offering free tech support to all participants. In this segment of the ride, 2200+ riders raised a total of $8.6 Million towards Cancer Research.

The Ride To Conquer Cancer – Vancouver To Seattle

1

The BC Ride To Conquer Cancer is a 2 Day, 220km ride from Vancouver BC to Seattle Washington. For 2011, more than 2800 riders raised in excess of $11.1 Million. WOW!

With work, I took on the challenge of keeping all of these bikes in working order for the duration. Offering free tech support to the onslaught of cyclists I do not want to see another flat tire for some time. With countless flats, bent wheels, mis-aligned derailleurs, missing pedal cleats, etc. etc. etc. I am happy it is over but I had a lot of fun at the event.

Next weekend I am doing the same thing all over again in Calgary. I will update on that one in a week or so.
